About

The Well Church is a Christ-centered community committed to loving God, loving people and making and maturing disciples of Christ.

We welcome all people from all stories and walks of life to come and know God and be satisfied in Him.

What we believe

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, The Well Church holds to the Westminster Confession of Faith read in light of the Declaratory Statement as its statement of faith and its basis of union.

Our story

Our church community was established in 2013 as a church plant from an English-speaking congregation in Korea, initially consisting of a handful of people who met in the offices of a Sydney frozen yoghurt shop, united by a God-planted desire to make Jesus known.

In 2017, our church became independent with the blessing of the sending church in Korea. In 2020, the congregation voted David Chong as our pastor. Under his leadership, we joined the Presbyterian Church of Australia (PCA) in 2023 and became part of the Presbytery of Western Sydney.

At the end of 2023, David Chong stepped away from his role, and during our search for a new pastor, Rev. Elliot Ku was called to our church. In June 2024, he accepted the call to be our Lead Pastor and Moderator, beginning in 2025.

By God’s grace, our church gathers together to worship in the local area of the Sydney Olympic Park, and seeks to not only care for its members well but to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all who need to hear it.

You are welcome here.

 Our leadership

Elliot Ku

— Lead Pastor and Moderator

The Reverend Dr. Elliot Ku is the Lead Pastor and Moderator of The Well Church (TWC)*. He began his pastoral ministry journey in 2012 as a Youth Ministry Assistant and was a Campus Pastor at GracePoint prior to joining TWC. Elliot loves seeing God’s people encouraged, equipped, and empowered by God’s grace to love and serve God’s world.

Pastor Elliot completed his theological studies at Christ College (MDiv and MThSt) and Talbot School of Theology - Biola University (Doctor of Ministry). He is currently working on a PhD in Theology (with a focus on disability theology and missiology) at the Australian Catholic University. He also serves as a lecturer in church history at Christ College (Australian University of Theology) and Equip Seminary (Malaysia).

Elliot is married to Sherilyn and are proud parents of one daughter. He enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with good friends, coffee chats with his wife, and singing with his daughter.

Daniel DJ Kim

— Elder

Born and raised in Sydney, Daniel works as a lawyer by day.

Daniel is passionate about seeing people grow in their understanding of the gospel and their identity in Christ. He is excited to see people know, love, serve, and be souled out for, Jesus.

Daniel is married to his wife Lydia, and they have lovely daughters named Isabella & Evelina. He enjoys cooking, watching a good film, and listening to interesting podcasts.

Kevin Choi

— Elder

Originally from Hong Kong, Kevin now calls Sydney, Australia home where he studied his post-graduate degree and now works as a medical doctor.

Kevin believes in ministry both within and outside of church, and has a specific heart for the homeless which led him to work closely with ministries such as Jesus Cares.

Kevin is married to Ashleigh, and together they have beautiful sons named Eden & Jorden. He enjoys running and swimming as well as spending time with his family.

*The terms signal that Elliot provides leadership over the church as pastor. He is also moderator (a term used by Presbyterians to refer to a chairperson) of the Session (a plurality of elders).

Our Ministers in Training

The Well Church delights in being a “teaching church” - a place where aspiring pastors and leaders can come to be equipped for Christian ministry. In 2026, we have two student pastors (or Ministers-In-Training) serving with us.

Clement Hui is a third year theological student at Christ College. Clement was a high school teacher and taught social sciences for a number of years prior to training for ministry. He trained as a ministry apprentice from 2022-2023 and joined The Well Church with his wife Rebecca. Clement enjoys ministering to high school students, dancing, and feline creatures.

Justin Poon is completing a Master of Theological Studies at Christ College. Justin worked in the banking industry prior to training for ministry. Currently, he also works as a Finance Officer at Christ College during the week. Justin enjoys cooking, a good cup of coffee, and aims to beat Eliud Kipchoge’s marathon record some day.
